Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Jiaka, Zogang County, on the banks of Lancang River, Qamdo Prefecture, Tibet. It was named by Li Pu in 1955.
Lithology and Thickness
Limestone, Claystone, Coal and Sandstone. Dominated by limestone, intercalated with coal sand-bearing shale, divided into 4 layers, which are ascending: (1) gray thin-bedded pure limestone, 300 m thick; (2) light-gray thin-bedded quartzose sandstone, with no fossils found, 300 m thick; (3) coal sand-bearing shale and thin-bedded sandstone interbedded with shale, containing 2−4 coal beds, 600 m thick; (4) thin-bedded clayey limestone intercalated with shale, 120 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Uncertain relation with the underlying Devonian stratum

Overlain by limestone, green shale and sandstone of undefined ages
Regional extent
It is distributed at Riwoqê of Qamdo and Jiaka of Zogang County on the west bank of Lancang River, being best developed in Riwoqê, with commercial coals. It is also well developed at Jomda, east of the river, with clear sequences and abundant fossils.

Units (1) contains corals Kueichouphyllum sinense, Dibunophyllum sp. and Michelinia taiyuanensis; (2) no fossils; (3) yields brachiopod Linoproductus sp.; (4) contains brachiopods Dictyoclostus sp., D. manchuricus, D. cf. manchuricus and Dielasma sp.
